Voter Information
How Do You Become a Registered Democrat?
Under Ohio law, an elector affiliates with a political party by voting in that party’s primary election. An elector is considered to be a member of a political party if he or she voted in that party’s primary election within the preceding two calendar years, or if he or she did not vote in any other party’s primary election within the preceding two calendar years. (ORC 3513.05. Par. 7)
REMEMBER…whichever party ballot you chose at the election will be your party of record
until the next primary election is held.
If you requested a Democratic ballot at the most recent primary election, you will be affiliated with the Democratic Party until the next primary election held in your district, regardless of your previous voting history.
